Questions
What is a static website?
A site made of files that are sent to visitors as they are: HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images. Many site builders and static site generators (such as Hugo, Jekyll or Astro) produce them. Server-side code like PHP only runs on WordPress sites.
Can I use my own domain?
Yes. Every site starts on a free name.sites.nodan.net address. For a static site, you add your domain in the portal and point its DNS at us; we check it and turn on HTTPS. If your domain is on Cloudflare, the portal can create the records for you. For WordPress sites, email us and we connect your domain.
How do I update my static site?
Upload a new ZIP file or press “Deploy latest” for your Git repository. The new version goes live once it has been checked, and earlier versions stay available to restore.
What happens when WordPress needs updating?
WordPress installs its own security updates. For bigger updates of WordPress, plugins and themes, a managed update makes a backup first and restores it automatically if the site stops working afterwards.
Can you set up my site for me?
Yes. With the optional setup service ($49, paid once) we configure your site for you. Order it under Billing in the portal, then fill in a short form with the information you want on your site, such as your business name, contact details and opening hours, and upload your logo. We take care of the rest.
How do I pay?
By card through Stripe, monthly or yearly. You manage your payment method, invoices and cancellation from the portal.
